No need to lose weight ahead of your beach holiday... just buy a slimsuit

Last week's good weather was a very pleasant surprise, but it can only mean one thing - the swimsuit season is looming.
However, as women up and down the country tuck into bowls of Special K and exercise like crazy, there is an alternative for those who want the figure without having to work for it: the slimsuit.
The £45 swimming costume, which works like Spanx underwear, promises to hide women's bumpy bits and accentuate the features they are proud of.

Before and after: The 'diet in a swimsuit', right, flattens the tummy and smoothens out bumps
The 'diet in a swimsuit' is sized by bra measurement as well as dress size to ensure the perfect fit.
A Debenhams poll of women showed that 92 per cent worried about how they look in swimwear.
More than half of those questioned said they had tried dieting to boost their confidence but still found their swimsuits unflattering.

Debenhams swimwear buyer Sasha Nagalingham said: 'The challenge was to use data to create a suit that accentuates the good bits, and smooths the lumpy bits without making women feel like they’re wrapped in cling-film.'
They came up with a suit that has low-rise legs which smoothen out bumps, and a moulded bust works like a padded bra.
The lining is made from a specially-designed super-strength material that cinches at the waist and flattens the tummy.

Spot the difference: The slimsuit, right, has a flattering moulded bust
The outer layer is a shiny micro-fibre that hides the hard work that is going on underneath.
Debenhams took the measurements of 5,000 British women to help create the perfect sculpting swimwear.
Most agreed that their main body worry was a flabby tummy. The need for bust support came a close second.
Nagalingham said: 'But it’s not all about functionality – there’s no point cheating if it doesn’t look effortless. We have spent as much time on the look of the suit as we have on the construction of it.'
