We reported in an earlier post that Deepika Padukone is stepping into the s--- shoes of Zeenat Aman for the song ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ in Rohan Sippy’s next film. Apparently the heat got too much for Deepika! She decided to slip out of a skirt designed by Anahita Shroff Adajania and wear shorts instead. The reason: Deepika couldn’t be comfortable wearing that skirt and grooving to the difficult steps of the song.
Deepika Padukone received all kinds of compliments from the director and close friends on her look in ‘Dum Maaro Dum’. She looked uber-gorgeous in the skirt but it barely covered her derriere. When the rehearsals began, Deepika found it unmanageable. The choreographer wanted to change the steps for Deepika because she looked wonderful in the skirt worn with a halter top. But she was insistent on doing the steps and opted to change the skirt instead. Now she’s shooting the song in shorts worn with a tassel to give it the feel of a skirt.
After working really hard to get into shape for ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, it may be a little disappointing for Deepika Padukone. But she need not be dismayed. Rohan Sippy is planning to promote the film on the USP of this one song. The first teasers of the film, as well as the first posters, will have Deepika as the face of the film. This has upset Bipasha Basu who’s actually the leading lady of the film. Abhishek Bachchan is the lead actor. Bipasha was rattled when she heard about this decision of Rohan. She immediately called him up and wanted to know what was going on. Rohan explained that it was a marketing decision to not feature Abhishek and Bipasha on the first few promotional campaigns. The film hits the theaters on April 22.
