She is promoting a film in which she stars as a bride battling crippling depression.
But Kirsten Dunst couldn't have looked any sunnier as she attended a glamorous photocall at the Cannes Film Festival today with her co-stars.
The actress wore a bright yellow dress and red lipstick to promote Melancholia, from director Lars von Trier, which is in competition at the festival. Kirsten stars as Justine in the film, a bride who is gripped by depression on what should be the happiest day of her life.
Lars von Trier, the director behind the controversial Antichrist and Dogville, promised before this film: 'no more happy endings.'
The film takes a turn when the wedding guests witness Melancholia - a planet that has been hidden behind the sun and is now on a collision path with Earth. The apocalyptic climax has had film critics in awe, with reviewers today rushing to call the film 'visually stunning,' 'breathtaking,' and one gushing that the ending was 'the most powerful I've ever experienced.'
Many are already dubbing this performance the best of Kirsten's long career to date.
The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye said: 'I haven't seen Dunst this good in a long time. She clearly enjoyed working on the picture.'

The actress was joined today by co-stars including Charlotte Gainsbourg, glowing in a black dress shirt dress which stretched over her pregnant stomach.
Charlotte, 39, starred in Lars Von Trier's Antichrist and plays Justine's sister Claire.
Kiefer Sutherland, Jon Hurt, Alexander Skarsgaard and his father Stellan all take starring roles in the film.
The whole cast and director Lars assembled at the photocall today, ahead of tonight's gala screening.
Baz Bamigboye says that: 'the fear expressed in the film is about our state of mind, not the clashing of planets.
'However, it struck me more as an exploration into the tradition of marriage and the assumption that an official union between a man and a man will make everything perfect for a couple.
Von Trier seems to be suggesting that marriage is a sad and depressing affair and wonders why the hell we go through it.
